Genesis and evolution of school consumption in Italy between 19th and 20th centuries

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe the process of mass schooling in Italy between the second half of the 19^th century and the first half of the 20^th century, referring only to the primary schools and with changing speeds according to local contexts, by analysing the evolution of pedagogical models, educational practices and the material needs determined by them, with the proliferation of teaching aids and items that went to make up a student’s equipment and the start of their manufacture on an industrial scale.
