Abstract

Within the framework of the conference on the Higher Council of Public Education and the governance of the university system in the Republican age, held on the 30th & 31st May 2024, at the University of Macerata, the relationship between the Higher Council of Public Education and the governance of the university system in the Republican era was analyzed. This focused on the Council's competencies and attributions across various disciplinary fields. Through a chronological and comparative approach, this scientific chronicle offers an in-depth analysis of the university, considered both as a community and autonomous institution. It also considers it as an integral part of society, and a place for cultural production and social mobilization.
