L’amitié scientifique, condition de la liberté

Abstract

Ce court texte est la transcription de mon intervention lors de la cérémonie d’accueil de Fariba Adelkhah, quatre jours après son retour à Paris, organisée à Sciences Po le 20 octobre 2023, après quatre ans et demi de privation de liberté en Iran. Sociétés politiques comparées a organisé, durant toutes ces années, un cycle de textes sur la liberté scientifique en soutien à nos deux collègues, Roland Marchal et Fariba Adelkhah, arrêtés simultanément le 5 juin 2019 à Téhéran. Alors que Roland Marchal a été libéré le 20 mars 2020, Fariba Adelkhah est restée prisonnière du régime iranien jusqu’au 16 octobre 2023. Ce texte entend clore ce cycle, même si la question de la liberté scientifique continuera sans aucun doute à être au cœur de nos réflexions.

Scientific Friendship, Condition of Freedom

This short text is the transcript of my speech at Fariba Adelkhah’s welcome ceremony, four days after she came back to Paris, organised at Sciences Po on 20 October 2023, after four and a half years of deprivation of freedom in Iran. Throughout these years, Sociétés politiques comparées has organised the publication a series of texts on scientific freedom in support of our two colleagues, Roland Marchal and Fariba Adelkhah, who were arrested on the same day, on 5 June 2019 in Tehran. While Roland Marchal was released on 20 March 2020, Fariba Adelkhah remained a prisoner of the Iranian regime until 16 October 2023. This text is intended to bring this series to an end, although the issue of scientific freedom will undoubtedly continue to be at the core of our reflections.
